Anita Wong: 10 Years of Remembrance – Combined Retrospective and Painting Creation Award Group Exhibition

The “Anita Wong: 10 Years of Remembrance – Combined Retrospective and Painting Creation Award Group Exhibition” will be grandly held at the Boai Art Gallery of the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, under the Ministry of Culture, from June 9 to June 19.
Professor Anita Wong grew up in a family steeped in literature and art. After secondary school, she moved to the United Kingdom with her parents and completed diplomas in interior design and painting between 1969 and 1972. Following her marriage, she relocated to the United States, where she earned a degree in visual arts in 1978. In 1982, she began teaching modern drawing at the former National Academy of Arts (now the National Taiwan University of Arts).
As the eldest daughter-in-law of Wang Yung-Ching (the founder of Formosa Plastics Group), she temporarily stepped away from the art world in 1985 to focus on the family business. However, due to her profound aesthetic cultivation and unique artistic achievements, she was encouraged by friends in the art community to return to painting in 1998. Since 2000, she has actively exhibited her works, captivating audiences with her bold and dynamic “Brushstrokes Across Mountains and Rivers” style in both solo and joint exhibitions worldwide.
About the Exhibition

The exhibition will also feature a commemorative album and a documentary film reviewing Professor Anita Wong’s artistic journey, along with evaluations from renowned art scholars from Taiwan and China.
Furthermore, the Anita Wong Foundation, which has sponsored the “Anita Wong Painting Creation Award” at the National Taiwan University of Arts over the years, has specially selected 21 winning artworks from the first to fourth editions of the award to be displayed in this joint exhibition.
The opening ceremony of the “Anita Wong: 10 Years of Remembrance – Combined Retrospective and Painting Creation Award Group Exhibition” will be held on Sunday, June 11, at 2:30 PM.
