Curated by Dr. Ye Guo-Shin, Founder of the Mo Hai Lou International Art Research Group, the “Artistic Transmission – Art Exhibition of Fu Baoshi & Fu Yiyao” is now on display at Exhibition Hall 1 of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall until November 6. This marks the first overseas joint exhibition of rare and treasured works by Fu Baoshi and his daughter, Fu Yiyao. A special talk featuring Fu Yiyao and authentication expert Dr. Ye Guo-Shin will take place on November 2 at 3 PM.

Dr. Ye Guo-Shin noted that the exhibition showcases not only numerous classic works by Fu Yiyao but also several original masterpieces by Fu Baoshi, passed down through the Fu family. The exhibition highlights the unique artistic legacy shared between father and daughter, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the profound cultural heritage behind their works.

Fu Yiyao followed in her father’s footsteps and studied in Japan in the 1980s, where she has been based for over 40 years. Now a Chinese-born Japanese artist, she has developed a distinctive artistic language, with her works collected by renowned museums and sacred temples across Japan, preserving the artistic and spiritual essence of the Fu family. Her main creative themes include temple mural paintings, Japanese folk festivals, poetic paintings, and traditional landscapes. Many of her works are housed in prestigious shrines and temples, rarely seen in public, and often depict World Cultural Heritage sites such as the National Treasure Hall of Enryaku-ji on Mount Hiei, Kyoto’s Sanjūsangen-dō, Sanzen-in in Ohara, Yokohama’s Enmanji Temple, and Ryūdō-in Temple in Nagano. Representative works include The Eastward Spread of Buddhism, Mount Hiei’s Enryaku-ji Temple, Guoqing Temple of Mount Tiantai, and Four Seasons of Sanzen-in.

This exhibition also marks the first time that several national treasure-level works, which have never left Japan, are being displayed in Taiwan. The showcased pieces span a wide range of artistic creations, including calligraphy, paintings, and ceramics, offering a comprehensive glimpse into the masterpieces of the Fu family.
