Dr. Ye Guo-Shin’s Decade-Long Masterpiece: Taiwan’s First Comprehensive Art Authentication Book Debuts │ WOW!NEWS

Dr. Ye Guo-Shin’s monumental work, Mo Hai Chun Qiu—Collection and Connoisseurship Research into Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, is officially published! Spanning 720,000 words, this book is the culmination of over a decade of research. Dr. Ye personally visited renowned museums around the world, collected first-hand materials on paintings and calligraphy, and interviewed artists, their disciples, and family members to gather rare and invaluable insights. He also developed a unique “Painting/Calligraphy Authenticity Assessment Form,” rooted in Western artistic methodology, to provide a scientific and logical framework for what might otherwise seem like an elusive field—art authentication.

This book is Taiwan’s first academic, systematic, and market-oriented study on the authentication of both ancient and modern paintings and calligraphy. It features nearly 2,000 high-quality images from museums worldwide, printed to the highest standards to replicate the appearance of the original works. Advanced anti-counterfeiting technologies ensure the content cannot be pirated, and the book’s cover is crafted with durable, high-cost wooden panels to prevent damage, warping, or insect infestations—making it a collectible item built to last.

Dr. Ye Guo-Shin, an expert in painting and calligraphy authentication, is the first Chinese scholar to earn a doctorate in “Art Authentication Studies” from the UK. He has served as a lecturer on painting and calligraphy authentication for forensic departments, such as the Criminal Investigation Bureau, and has spent decades authenticating artworks for collectors and auction houses around the world. In addition to being a scholar, artist, appraiser, and auctioneer, Dr. Ye is also a consultant for numerous global art auction houses specializing in painting and calligraphy.

Dr. Ye is committed to promoting and sharing art knowledge. He founded the Mo Hai Lou International Art Research Group and established Asia’s first Art Authentication Museum. This institution combines the features of an art library and a cutting-edge hybrid cultural space, offering functions in reading, professional research, cultural exchange, and education, serving art lovers worldwide.

At the recent book launch event, notable guests included forensic expert Dr. Henry Chang-Yu Lee and renowned painter Fu Yiyao, who resides in Japan. Attendees, alongside Dr. Ye, participated in a hands-on demonstration of art authentication techniques.
