Mo Hai Chun Qiu – Collection and Connoisseurship Research into Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Book Launch Press Conference | Taiwan’s First Comprehensive Scholarly Work on Calligraphy and Painting Authentication | China Times

The book Mo Hai Chun Qiu – Collection and Connoisseurship Research into Chinese Painting and Calligraphy comprises 720,000 characters and is the result of over a decade of meticulous research by Dr. Ye Guo-Shin. He personally visited world-renowned museums, gathering firsthand materials on calligraphy and painting, and conducted in-depth interviews with artists, their disciples, and family members to obtain invaluable primary sources.

A key highlight of this work is the groundbreaking “Painting/Calligraphy Authenticity Assessment Chart,” developed by Dr. Ye using Western art methodology as its theoretical foundation. This systematic and logical approach brings scientific clarity to the seemingly esoteric field of art authentication.

As Taiwan’s first academically rigorous and market-focused reference book on the authentication of ancient and modern calligraphy and paintings, Mo Hai Chun Qiu features nearly 2,000 images from leading museums worldwide. It is printed to the highest standards to closely match the quality of original artworks and incorporates anti-counterfeiting technology to prevent unauthorized reproduction. Additionally, the book’s case is uniquely crafted from high-cost, durable wooden boards to ensure long-term preservation, preventing damage, warping, and pest infestation.
