《Da Dao Wu Men ── The Artistic Journey of Jiang Ming-Xian》
The Art Journey of Chiang Ming-Hsien” is a grand ink painting exhibition showcasing over 50 years of Chiang Ming-Hsien’s artistic career. This exhibition presents key works from his creative journey, ranging from his graduation pieces at National Taiwan Normal University in 1968 to his most recent experimental calligraphy series. Curated by Dr. Yeh Kuo-Hsin, the exhibition is divided into five thematic sections: “Nostalgia and Emotions,” “Mountains and Rivers,” “Poetic Expressions,” “Beyond the Mind,” and “Ink without Boundaries,” featuring a total of 106 works that reflect the depth of Chiang’s artistry.
This exhibition marks one of the most comprehensive showcases of Chiang’s work since his solo exhibitions at the National Museum of History in 2017, Taoyuan City Government in 2022, and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in 2015. During the opening ceremony, President Tsai Ing-Wen sent a congratulatory message, recognizing Chiang’s artistic achievements.
Curator Dr. Yeh Kuo-Hsin incorporated the Buddhist concept of “no gates” into the exhibition’s layout, using a swastika symbol to guide the spatial design and reducing the use of door frames to allow viewers to move freely through the space. The exhibition also includes a scenic area to provide an immersive environment for viewing Chiang’s large-scale paintings.
A documentary film, produced over a year, accompanies the exhibition, featuring interviews with scholars discussing Chiang’s creative philosophy and the evolution of his art. Dr. Yeh emphasized that Chiang’s work is dynamic and ever-changing, a fusion of Eastern and Western elements that represents a significant contribution to the development of Taiwanese modern and contemporary ink painting. This exhibition invites viewers to explore Chiang’s artistic landscape and experience his unique artistic vision.
