《Brilliant Ink – Fusion of Calligraphy and Ink Painting, Blend of East and West. Liang Yung-fei Calligraphy Art Exhibition》
This exhibition is curated by Dr. Yeh Kuo-Hsin, an art appraiser from the Mokhailou International Art Research Institute, showcasing the recent works of Liang Yongfei. Through five distinct series and 50 representative pieces, the exhibition illustrates Liang’s artistic journey from traditional calligraphy to a style that is uniquely his own.
Born in 1962 in Gaoshu Township, Pingtung, Liang Yongfei was introduced to calligraphy by his uncle, Liang Zhaojin, at a young age. Although he majored in physical education during his youth, his passion for calligraphy remained strong, and he founded a calligraphy society in college, laying a solid foundation for his future endeavors. Over the years, he has continuously explored the fusion of Eastern and Western art, evolving from copying ancient calligraphy styles to developing his own distinct language, liberating himself from traditional writing rules and infusing his work with a modern dynamic tension.
Liang’s calligraphic artistry does not merely adhere to traditional aesthetics. His work blends the essence of Eastern calligraphy with Western modern abstract art, using variations in line and space to give his pieces a multidimensional expressiveness. In his work, calligraphy transcends writing and becomes an artistic form that merges with painting. The exhibited works highlight his years of progress and breakthroughs in calligraphy, marking his transformation from a “calligrapher” to a “calligraphy artist.”
This exhibition is not only a comprehensive retrospective of Liang Yongfei’s creative journey but also a testament to his deep understanding and innovative exploration of both traditional and modern calligraphic art, showcasing his remarkable achievements in the field.
