Contemporary Ink Master Fu Yi Yao’s First Lecture During Her Visit to Taiwan
《Zhi Dian Jiang Shan ── The Artistic Achievements of Fu Baoshi and Fu Yiyao》
Chinese ink wash art has a profound history, experiencing vigorous development in modern times due to global cultural exchanges that produce brilliant artistic sparks between Eastern and Western cultures. Among these artists, outstanding calligraphers and painters are the soul of ink wash art. Dr. Ye Guoxin, who has dedicated years to promoting ink wash art, shares a deep friendship with the renowned calligrapher and painter Fu Yiyao. His invitations for her to Taiwan have led to the lecture series titled “Guiding the Landscape — The Artistic Achievements of Fu Baoshi and Fu Yiyao.” The lectures will occur on September 30 and October 1, 2015, marking Fu Yiyao’s first public speech in Taiwan.
Fu Baoshi, a giant in modern calligraphy and painting, founded the “New Jinling School” and created the “Baoshi Stroke.” His grand and powerful works, including The Beautiful Mountains and Rivers, have received high praise from prominent figures in the art world. His artistic achievements set records in the art market.
Fu Yiyao, Fu Baoshi’s daughter, grew up surrounded by literary figures like Guo Moruo and Lin Sanzhi. She studied at Musashino Art University in Japan and became the first student to receive public funding to study abroad after China’s reforms. She has received prestigious awards, such as the “Lunyi Art Prize.” Her intricate paintings and murals have been collected by renowned Japanese temples, and she is highly regarded in both the Buddhist and art communities in Japan.
Dr. Ye Guoxin, who facilitated this lecture series, is a prominent appraiser in Taiwan and will provide insights into the artistic achievements of the Fu family. The September 30 lecture will focus on “The Artistic Achievements of Fu Baoshi,” while the October 1 lecture will center on “The Artistic Achievements of Fu Yiyao,” featuring personal explanations from Fu Yiyao herself. This event presents a rare opportunity to appreciate the artistic legacy of both generations of the Fu family, inviting all interested in culture and art to participate in this extraordinary cultural feast.
